TRE GENERATIONER

Simon Hansen founded the design brand MENU in 1978 and since then the business has been taken over by his son Bjarne. Today, Bjarne runs the company with his two children Joachim and Michaela, both of whom are ready to take over from their father and continue the family business. They have grand ambitions for the future and every generation has an ambition to make a difference with their designs.

This week's LimeLight episode features Brand and Design Director at MENU Joachim Engell-Kornbek Hansen. Apart from his function, he is also the third generation of the family-owned business and he shares the same level of ambition for the company as his father and grandfather.

Watch and listen to Joachim talk about the thoughts and philosophy behind their amazing and extremely popular lamps. Here, Joachim gives his idea of what it is that works so well for MENU and what approach they have for design. The design is created with great relation to the Nordic countries and the way we use light and lamps.

MENU TRIBECA

Søren Rose is the Danish designer behind the iconic lamp series Tribeca for MENU. The Tribeca series is designed with inspiration from vintage American lamps. To start with the lamps were made as one-off products made from old recycables. Søren Rose created the one-of-a-kind objects by combining old lamps and spare parts - a practice that has developed into the Tribeca series which is produced by MENU today.

All the Tribeca lamps in the series have elegant details with an American inspired look. The lamp series name also has descent in the United States, as it was in the Tribeca area that the lamps were made.

The Tribeca lamp series consist both of the pendants indeholder MENU Champers, MENU Franklin, MENU Harrison and MENU Leonard, as well as table and wall lamps MENU Reade, MENU Collister, MENU Staple, MENU Walker og MENU Warren.

You can explore the MENU Tribeca lamp series her and be inspired for your next lamp purchase.

MENU JWDA

The JWDA lamp series is the best selling in MENU's history. The lamp is inspired by the Scandinavians' use of candle lights and is designed as lighting that creates a cosy atmosphere. The table lamp is made to fit a windowsill from where its special glow will mimic actual candle light.

The JWDA lamp comes as both a table lamp and a pendant in either concrete, brass, or steel.
MENU JWDA is designed by Jonas Wagell.
