The history of Le Klint goes all the way back to the beginning of the 20th century, but what we today know as Le Klint didn’t come into existence until 1943. In 1943 was the year Le Klint turned into a real business and their iconic pleated shade called “gribekraven” went into production. Though Le Klint has a long history, Le Klint is today a modern manufacturing company that has managed to hold on to their old traditions of well craftsmanship. Le Klint has chosen to combine its classic selection consisting of models like Le Klint pendants 101, 47, 105, 163, and 172 while still renewing themselves with modern models like the  Le Klint Swirl series, Caché series, the Mutatio table lamp and last, but not least, the popular Carronade series. Their versatile selection of both classic and modern lamps has made Le Klint successful through all these years and has stated themselves as a brand that will bring you beautiful design and high quality.

The Greatest designers of Le Klint

Le Klint is a respected manufacturer in Denmark and the rest of the world. Le Klint has reached great acknowledgement and recognition due to their close cooperation with professional designers and has over the years established a powerful selection of both classic and modern lamps. Among many talented designers, Tage Klint, Kaare Klint, and Esben Klint are worth mentioning. Tage and Kaare were both sons of P.V. Jensen-Klint, the guy that founded Le Klint. The two brothers have played big roles in establishing a solid design fundament for Le Klint lamps. Tage Klint was the one to add the pleated collar to “Gribekraven” lamps, e.g. 1-25 pendant, Le Klint 208, and Le Klint 26-70PL. His brother, Kaare Klint, designed the famous 101A pendant and the 306 table lamp in brass. Kaare Klint’s son, Esben Klint, walked in his father’s footsteps and designed 107, 1, 163, 47 and 57 pendants, which all are incredibly beautiful. Besides the designers within the family, many more has joined in to create the beautiful lamps Le Klint has to offer.

The story behind Le Klint

We are going all the back to the beginning of the 20th century to reach to the foundation of Le Klint. It was here the classic, pleated lamp shade was created and thereby a new era began. Ever since the very first shade was designed, Le Klint has developed and proven themselves as a icon within Danish design. Especially Tage and Kaare Klint, the sons of the founder, P. V. Jensen-Klint, is to blame for the explosive development Le Klint went through in the 1940s and ‘50s. Later on, son of Tage, Jan Klint, took over. Jan Klint was a driven businessman and due to his business characters, he became very important in the further development. To begin with, all the lamps were designed and created by members of the Klint-family, but as they’ve expanded, the modern design has been developed in cooperation with architects and designers. Today, Le Klint offers beautiful and classic models as well as stunning, more modern lamps.
